DeltaScroll Privacy Policy

DeltaScroll is designed to let you import EPUB files, read them locally, keep reading preferences on your device, optionally back up your library to your own Google Drive, and optionally use online features such as catalog search, downloads, and read-aloud.

DeltaScroll does not require you to create a DeltaScroll account to use its core reading features.

Depending on the features you use, DeltaScroll may access or process the following categories of information:

• EPUB files and related metadata that you choose to import, open, share to the app, download, or back up.
• Your library data, including reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, shelves, favorites, view preferences, theme preferences, and text-to-speech settings.
• Google Drive authorization data and file-related information if you choose to connect Google Drive for backup.
• Text that you choose to send to the read-aloud feature when that feature uses a network text-to-speech service.
• Search queries and requested download information when you use online catalog or download features.
• Standard technical request data, such as IP address, device or browser information, and request metadata, that may be received by the services involved in delivering online features.

DeltaScroll stores much of your reading data locally on your device, including imported books, reading progress, bookmarks, notes, highlights, shelves, favorites, and display preferences.

On web and app surfaces, this local storage may use browser storage technologies such as localStorage, IndexedDB, caches, or app storage provided by the operating system.

If you use the Android app, DeltaScroll may also save imported EPUB files inside the app's private app storage on your device.

If you choose to connect Google Drive, DeltaScroll requests access to the Google Drive scope needed to create and manage files that DeltaScroll creates for your backups.

When this feature is used, DeltaScroll may upload your selected EPUB files and related backup information to a folder in your Google Drive. DeltaScroll uses this access only to provide the backup and restore functionality you request.

DeltaScroll does not require Google Drive access for general app use. If you do not connect Google Drive, this feature does not run.

If you use DeltaScroll to search for public-domain books or download them, your requests may be sent to Project Gutenberg and related network infrastructure needed to retrieve public catalog or file data.

These requests may include your search terms, selected book URLs, and standard request metadata needed to deliver the content.

If you use the read-aloud feature in builds that rely on a network text-to-speech service, text you choose to read aloud may be sent to DeltaScroll's text-to-speech endpoint and to service providers used to generate speech audio or speech marks.

DeltaScroll uses that text to generate the requested audio response. DeltaScroll does not use that text for advertising or to build marketing profiles about you.

If you do not use read-aloud, this processing does not occur.

• To import, display, organize, and read EPUB files.
• To save your reading state, preferences, bookmarks, notes, and highlights.
• To let you back up or restore your library with Google Drive if you choose to use that feature.
• To search public catalogs and download public-domain books when you request it.
• To generate read-aloud audio or timing data when you use the text-to-speech feature.
• To secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve DeltaScroll.

DeltaScroll does not sell your personal information.

DeltaScroll may share or transmit data only as needed to provide the features you choose to use, including with:

• Google, when you choose to connect Google Drive for backup or restore.
• Project Gutenberg or related delivery services, when you search or download public-domain books.
• Text-to-speech service providers used to generate requested speech output.
• Service providers or infrastructure partners that help operate DeltaScroll's online features, subject to applicable confidentiality and security obligations.

DeltaScroll may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce terms, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Data stored locally on your device generally remains there until you delete the content, clear app or browser storage, uninstall the app, or otherwise remove it yourself.

Google Drive backups remain in your Google Drive until you delete them from Google Drive or stop using that feature.

Data processed through DeltaScroll's online services is kept only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.

DeltaScroll uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information handled by the app. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

DeltaScroll is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through DeltaScroll. If you believe a child has provided personal information through DeltaScroll, please contact us.

• You can use DeltaScroll's core reading features without connecting Google Drive.
• You can delete imported books, notes, bookmarks, highlights, and other local data from within the app or by clearing app or browser storage.
• You can stop using online features such as Google Drive backup, online search, downloads, or read-aloud at any time.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date at the top of this page and take other reasonable steps to notify users when appropriate.
